The University of Nottingham
I am a 4th year medical student and have always been interested in the mind and brain and most importantly what can go wrong. My experiences with Alzheimer's disease in particular played a huge role in my desire to study medicine and I want to continue to learn about the disease and be able to use this to treat patients with the care and empathy they deserve, not just in a setting of dementia but in all aspects of care. I know that involvement of the family is vitally important, for the patient and their carers and I hope that I can use what I've learned to provide the best possible support for everyone involved in someone's dementia journey in future - especially as every single health care professional in every specialty will encounter dementia at some point in their career.
