Gemma Goodall is a Research Ambassador for The Arts and Dementia Doctoral Training Centre (TAnDem). She works closely with the project Created Out of Mind: Shaping perceptions of dementia through art and science based at The Wellcome Hub in London, and is primarily interested in arts engagement and interpersonal relationships within dementia care. Gemma has recently completed a Master's degree in The Psychology of Music at The University of Sheffield.

Over the last month I had the fantastic opportunity to assist with all three of Bev Foster’s ‘Music in Dementia Care’ workshops. In addition to being a performer, songwriter, and music educator, Bev Foster is the founder of the Room 217 Foundation.

As the arts within dementia become increasingly explored, so do more unique forms of creative activity. Most of us are at least somewhat familiar with ‘well-known’ activities such as group singing, arts and crafts, and reading groups etc.
