Nancy

Relative of person with dementia

Nancy writes about her experience of dementia in the family in her blog www.mumhasdementia.com. Nancy's mum was diagnosed with Alzheimer's disease at the age of 63. As a blogger, she combines her personal understanding of the disease with her professional knowledge gained through her practice as a medical doctor. Nancy is a firm believer in the restorative powers of humour (however dark) when dealing with dementia and she has found writing about even the most traumatic of events to be surprisingly therapeutic.

Safety and autonomy when capacity is compromised.  My mum has dementia.  She was diagnosed with Alzheimer’s disease last year although she had been deteriorating for a while prior to that.
