    There is no treatment for vascular dementia in the NHS. Once diagnosis has been made advice is for healthy living with a sensible diet and  regular exercise.

    Safety and autonomy when capacity is compromised.  My mum has dementia.  She was diagnosed with Alzheimer’s disease last year although she had been deteriorating for a while prior to that.

    Today is our wedding anniversary. My Husband does not know, and for that I am glad. If he knew, he would be devastated at not having bought and written a card. No-one ever chose cards quite like he did.

    Academics are generally discreet about how their initial ideas for a research project develop. There are lots of reasons for this - some are rational, other reasons can seem a little 'paranoid'.

    What saddens me most about my husband's incapacity is his loss and deprivation of the things which he enjoyed, and which brought him such pleasure, and enriched his life.

    Thomas Hoccleve (1367-1426) is among the earliest English writer to leave us an account of his own mental illness. Hoccleve had a great deal to lose not only through his illness, but through the immense difficulties of writing about such an experience.

    As it is not easy to get out for any length of time, I now do most of my non-food shopping on line.

    Generally speaking, this works very well, and I have mostly good experiences.
