The British Medical Journal, in association with the Alzheimer’s Society, has produced this e-learning module entitled ‘Management of dementia in primary care’.
It takes approximately an hour to complete and, if successful, you will be awarded with a certificate that counts as one hour of CPD/CME credit.
It focuses on:
- The importance of early diagnosis in order to give the patient choices about their care, as well as optimising the potential for clinical management
- The need to be aware of underlying medical conditions and vascular risk factors, as well as treating pain in people with dementia
- Advice on specific drug treatments and how many behavioural and psychological symptoms can be prevented, without the use of antipsychotic drugs
- The importance of recognising the needs of carers and supporting them as well as the patient
