This course by the University of Derby will look at the global challenge of dementia. It focuses on integrative collaboration and partnership working to reduce barriers between services and to provide seamless care for people living with dementia.


Managing behaviours associated with Alzheimer's dementia - teaching strategy

Behavioural disturbances are seen in up to 50 percent of individuals diagnosed with Alzheimer's dementia. This is especially the case in those over 85 years of age. The middle stages of the disease are frequently the time when these behaviours are highlighted. The behavioural symptoms associated with Alzheimer's dementia are often the source of issues ranging from basic safety to caregiver burnout. Agitation is frequently the catalyst for seeking treatment or seeking placement options.

 ‘Delirium’,  gives an overview of how to diagnose delirium and the national guidelines with respect to treating this illness.


British Medical Journal - Management of Dementia in Primary Care

An e-learning module from The British Medical Journal, in association with the Alzheimer’s Society. The module is worth one hour of CPD/CME credit upon successful completion.
