23rd April 2015: 4:00 for 4:30 – 6.30pm

The Stand by Me DVD based education and resource pack was developed in 2011 as a means of improving communication and care for people with dementia.    This resource is has been extremely successful,  with the film clips being short-listed for the 2012 Learning on Screen Awards British Film Institute.

In order to reach a wider audience, the Association for Dementia Studies had the opportunity to work with Skills for Health to adapt the DVD based resource into a free online training course funded by the Department of Health.  With expert guidance from front line health and social care practitioners the course was designed to adopt a blended learning approach, rich in film content and providing opportunities for frontline practitioners to reflect on their practice.

The launch seminar will be chaired by Professor Dawn Brooker accompanied by professionals who are experts in translating knowledge into training and training into practice. There will be an opportunity to learn more about the resource and to see the course in action.
