Dementia screening ruled out as tests are inaccurate

The NHS has ruled out routine screening for dementia because memory tests are so inaccurate.

Anne Mackie, director of programmes for the UK National Screening Committee, said the tests were so "awful" that two thirds of diagnoses would be given to healthy people.

And she said such tests were unethical if doctors could not prescribe anything to slow down the disease.
